Position: Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Stetson University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track visiting assistant professor beginning August 2019. This is a one-year (9-month) position with a strong potential for multiyear renewal. All applicants must hold a PhD in Psychology from an APA-accredited institution or provide evidence that the PhD will be completed prior to August 2019.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to liberal learning at an undergraduate institution, and an ability to diversify our curriculum and pedagogy, and will show evidence of teaching excellence using a variety of effective methodologies. The specific area of research expertise is open, but applicants should have a strong record of teaching courses in statistics and research methods and in mentoring undergraduate research projects. We are especially interested in and encourage applications from candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, an ability to be a role model and mentor for students, and a commitment to enhance opportunities for all students, including those from under-represented groups.
In addition to advising undergraduates (≈ 25 psychology majors per year) and mentoring senior research proposals or projects, the successful candidate will teach Introduction to Psychology, Behavioral Statistics and a course in the area of expertise (which should complement our.)

The Department of Psychology currently consists of 10 full-time faculty members. We are awith a broad range of research interests and expertise who are strongly committed to effective teaching and to working with students in a mentoring capacity. Psychology is regularly one of the largest majors across campus. We offer a solid foundation to students seeking to do graduate work in psychology and those planning graduate or professional education in various other areas. Our majors have served as co-authors on peer-reviewed publications and presented their research — and won awards — at the annual convention of the Southeastern Psychological Association (S.E.P.A.), (a daylong research symposium on Stetson’s campus) and other venues. There is a strong sense of community and support among the faculty and within the Department.
