New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Counseling Psychology to begin in September 2018. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Applied Psychology. This is a one-year non-tenure track appointment that is renewable for an additional two years, depending upon department need and satisfactory performance. A faculty position with the possibility of unlimited contract renewal may become available in this area. Position Description: Steinhardt seeks a candidate who can teach and provide clinical supervision for students in the Counseling M.A. program and the APA-approved Counseling Psychology PhD program, as well as assume administrative responsibilities in the Counseling Psychology program’s training clinic.
Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities includes masters and doctoral level classes, possibly including a practicum in clinical intake and psychodiagnosis (including the use of the SCID and K-SADS). Clinical supervision will include, but is not limited to, evidence-based (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT) supervision of doctoral students conducting individual therapy. Administrative responsibilities include working closely with the Director of the training clinic to provide administrative assistance. Exact job duties will be negotiated at hiring.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Counseling, School, or Clinical Psychology from an APAaccredited program, completed internship in an APAaccredited program, licensed psychologist in NY. Strong candidates for this position will have a background in teaching and supervising students at the graduate level.
