The Department of Psychology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applicants for a bi-partite non-tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2019. The University of Alaska has instituted promotion guidelines for non-tenure track faculty positions. Successful applicants will have a strong interest in teaching and mentoring students in both online and face-to-face modalities and is interested in being in Alaska long-term.
The UAF Psychology Department is a dynamic group of faculty with a commitment to multicultural perspectives who place a high priority on creating an environment supportive of the promotion of ethnic minorities, women, and persons with disabilities. Our undergraduate program is one of the largest at UAF, a small research university with a Carnegie RU/H classification that is ranked in the top 20 of small research universities by Academic Analytics. Our department offers a new and growing online undergraduate degree program that aims to provide an equally rigorous and engaged education to distance students. We are seeking applicants interested in becoming an integral part of this growth. Our undergraduate curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking, honor diversity, and promote human welfare. Psychology majors enjoy opportunities for participation in undergraduate research as well as community-based learning experiences. We seek applicants who can add to the breadth and diversity of our program, while expanding in-class and out-of-class opportunities for psychology students, especially online students.
Qualifications: Doctorate in psychology (at time of appointment). Applicants with master’s degree in psychology will be considered if accompanied by 10 or more years of teaching experience. Only applications with all 7 required materials will be considered. We seek candidates with experience in teaching both online and in-class modalities with the ability to teach across multiple areas of psychology with multi-cultural proficiency. Preference will be given to candidates with experience or interest in working with diverse populations, such as Indigenous peoples.
