The Department of Psychology at the University of Houston (UH) anticipates filling two tenure-track positions to begin September 1, 2020. The University of Houston is a Carnegie-designated Tier One research university, and also has been designated Tier One for Community Engagement. 1. DEVELOPMENTAL, BEHAVIORAL, AND COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE AND/OR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY. Tenured full professor to join its integrated program in Developmental, Cognitive, and Behavioral Neuroscience (DCBN), and/or its Clinical Psychology Program. This faculty member will be a key person in the evolution and continued success of the Texas Center for Learning Disabilities (TCLD;, which was recently endowed with a $10M gift. The center is seeking to expand into a wider variety of neurodevelopmental disorders, which can include congenital (including genetic) or acquired conditions. The specific area of expertise and interest are open, but strong candidates will be oriented to interdisciplinary research relating etiology to phenotypic expression as measured by neuroimaging, cognitive, and behavioral features, including learning outcomes and treatment response. Current faculty associated with TCLD include expertise in methodology, learning and cognition, neuroimaging, genetics, and intervention. Preference will be given to Full Professors with a well-developed track record of interdisciplinary research; consideration will also be given to advanced Associate Professors with expertise and experience in interdisciplinary research on neurodevelopmental disorders.

Commitment to excellence in research is essential and the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an externally funded program of research in their chosen area and to direct graduate student and postdoctoral trainee research. Commitment to teaching is also required and individuals should be interested in and capable of offering courses in DCBN and/or Clinical Psychology in their topic areas and participate in the Department’s undergraduate teaching and mentoring programs.

2. CHILD-CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY. Assistant to Associate Professor whose major interests involve children and adolescents. The program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association and has specialty concentrations in child-family, adult behavior disorders and clinical neuropsychology. Commitment to excellence in research and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level, and in supervision of graduate research and clinical practica is expected. Successful applicants must demonstrate evidence of research productivity and potential for success in securing external funding. Candidates with a background in developmental psychopathology are especially encouraged to apply, as are candidates who can interface with the department’s graduate programs in Social/Health; Developmental, Cognitive, and Behavioral Neuroscience; and Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
