The Department of Psychology in the College of the Pacific at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2019. The Department specializes in Health-Related and Applied areas of Psychology, and is looking for faculty whose expertise will both complement and expand on those of current faculty. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in Functional Assessment and Treatment of Problem Behavior with any populations, and/or Early Behavioral Intervention for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Responsibilities include: Teaching courses in our undergraduate/graduate psychology program within the liberal arts college of the University, developing and maintaining an active research program, supervising undergraduate/graduate research, and participating in shared faculty governance. Courses taught will be a mixture of advanced undergraduate/graduate courses in area of expertise and contribution to rotation of major courses. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong commitment to both teaching undergraduates and pursuing research in a liberal arts environment, as well as experience working with diverse populations.
The Department of Psychology consists of 7 full-time faculty that provide coursework in theoretical and research foundations of psychology, with intensive student involvement in research and applied experiences. Psychology is one of the largest majors in the University, with approximately 170 undergraduate majors. The Department also houses a Masters Degree program focused on Applied Behavior Analysis and Doctoral Preparation for Behaviorally-Oriented Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programs. The graduate course sequence and supervised clinical experience are approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Candidates with expertise in these areas would be expected to contribute to the graduate as well as undergraduate programs.
