The Department of Psychological Sciences at Augusta University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology to begin in August 2020. The Department is composed of a collegial group of 12 full-time faculty members with expertise across a broad spectrum of psychology disciplines and currently operates undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The Undergraduate program offers a BS, with a Pre-Medicine track option, or a minor. The Master’s degree program offers three concentrations: MPCAC accredited Clinical/Counseling, Applied Experimental, and General Experimental. A PsyD program with a clinical health focus has been formally proposed to the University and has received strong support from university leadership. This program would be based on the scientist-practitioner model and require the defense of a dissertation. The successful candidate will be an integral part of this emerging program.

We invite applications from individuals with expertise in any domain relevant to clinical psychology. However, individuals with expertise in health psychology, children/adolescents, or neuropsychology are especially encouraged to apply as are those with the ability to teach graduate level cognitive assessment. Candidates will be engaged in clinical supervision and must have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited university and be license-eligible in the state of Georgia. Candidates should also show a commitment to effective pedagogy for undergraduate and graduate classes and have a productive research program in which they are able to mentor students. The Department has laboratories for the study of both human and animal behavior with specific laboratories devoted to clinical, social and child psychology, as well as neuroscience.

Augusta University is one of the four research universities in the University System of Georgia, and the state’s only public academic medical center. Augusta University is host to ten colleges and schools that include several centers, institutes and departments with whom Psychological Sciences faculty collaborate. Among these are the Medical College of Georgia, Georgia Cancer Center, the College of Nursing, the College of Allied Health, the Department of Population Health Sciences, and the Institute of Public and Preventive Health. Augusta is also becoming one of the nation’s foremost centers of cyber security, with Augusta University’s School of Computer and Cyber Sciences fulfilling a key role in educating students and conducting research. Indeed, several faculty in our department have dual appointments and/or have research collaborations with one or more of these entities and the number of collaborative opportunities within Augusta University is rapidly increasing.
