Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Developmental Psychology

WILLIAMS COLLEGE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in Developmental Psychology, beginning July 1, 2019. The appointment will normally be at the assistant professor level, although a more senior appointment is possible under special circumstances. Scholars whose research will expand the research underway in our department in new directions and/or whose research program is integrative in scope are especially encouraged to apply. Our faculty members are active and productive researchers, benefitting from excellent internal support and a generous sabbatical program. The college provides research facilities and support (e.g., research funds, laboratory space, research assistants, conference and travel funds), as well as numerous mentoring opportunities in teaching and research. The yearly teaching load is two courses (or the equivalent) each semester plus a January Winter Study course every other year. Typical courses will include Introduction to Developmental Psychology; the developmental section of a team-taught Introductory Psychology course; and an upper-level research seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise, with an accompanying lab. Candidates will also join the teaching rotation for our Experimentation & Statistics course and an interdisciplinary senior seminar. Information about the Psychology Department can be found at: https://psychology.williams.edu/

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, or a closely related field, completed by the time of appointment. In the letter of application, we ask you to speak to your ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. All offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background check. Further information is available at http://dean-faculty.williams.edu/prospective-faculty/background-check-policy/.

Application Instructions

Please submit your cover letter, vita, three letters of reference, reprints, research statement, and information on teaching experience and effectiveness (including any teaching ratings that are available) online at https://apply.interfolio.com/53158. Review of applications will begin October 1, 2018 and no applications will be accepted after October 15. Fax, email or mail applications cannot be accepted.
