The Department of Design and Environmental Analysis (D+EA) at Cornell University is a multi-disciplinary department composed of designers, environmental psychologists, and human factors researchers deeply committed to enhancing quality of life through human-centered design and research. D+EA seeks to hire two Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professors (with start dates of July 1, 2019 or January 1, 2020).
Both positions are 50% research / 50% teaching. D+EA values excellence in teaching. We seek applicants who will contribute to both undergraduate and graduate teaching. We are particularly interested in people who can teach undergraduate design studio, social science research methods, programming, sustainability, and environmental psychology/ human factors.
Applicants' areas of research expertise might include:
- Vulnerable Populations – examining design and its impact on particular underserved groups such as children, older adults, culturally and economically diverse individuals, and those with varying physical abilities (including universal design)
- Living and Working Environments – examining the design and impact of educational, workplace, and residential settings
Tenure-Track Positions (apply: https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/12384) New tenure-track Assistant/ Associate professors are expected to develop an externally-funded research program of international distinction. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses based on department needs, advising our BS, MA, MS, and PhD students, and providing service to the department and university community. Preference is given to applicants with a completed PhD Preference is given to applicants who have degrees in design as well as the social sciences.
