Staff Psychologist, Student Services Professional, Academic-Related II (12 month)

Student Health and Counseling Services at California State University San Marcos is looking to hire a temporary Student Services Professional, Academic-Related II (non-tenure track appointment). This is a 1.0 FTE (full-time), temporary, 12 month appointment beginning August 20th, 2019 with a potential to renew. Unit 3 employees are hereby notified that their previous periodic evaluations and application shall receive careful consideration.

The candidate should have experience in and will be expected to provide the following services: short term psychotherapy, intake assessments, triage, crisis intervention, psychoeducational programming, consultation to a variety of campus departments and divisions, leading focused skills-based groups, psychotherapy groups or support groups, participating in a multidisciplinary treatment team, and providing referrals when appropriate to medical, mental health, social services, or other assistance in the community. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to complete, in a timely and professional manner, documentation which meets current field standards of practice.

In addition to direct service responsibilities, the position will include time dedicated to training and supervision of psychology trainees enrolled in graduate programs in the social and behavioral sciences. This responsibility will include maintaining current knowledge and competency in the application of the American Psychological Association’s Standards of Accreditation as well as the CA Board of Psychology licensing and training requirements.

  • Minimum qualifications
    • One of the following two criteria :
      • Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California for at least 2 years or
      • Possession of a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-Accredited Doctoral Program and Licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Psychologist.
    • Demonstrated experience with and competence in providing individual and group clinical supervision to mental health trainees
    • Demonstrated competence in providing clinical supervision and psychotherapy based on evidence-based practices
    • Experience conducting time-limited psychotherapy, psychodiagnostic intake assessments, outreach, and crisis intervention
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to the services provided to students
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
    • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a stressful environment
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in California for 2 years or more
    • Master’s Degree in Social Work
    • Involvement with an APA-Accredited Internship program
    • Completion of an APA-Accredited Internship
