Staff Psychologist - Neurology

University of Vermont Medical Center, Vermont’s academic medical center and founding member of the University of Vermont Health Network, has an opening for a Staff Psychologist, Neurology.

The UVM Medical Center is a regional, academic healthcare center and teaching hospital in alliance with the University of Vermont, serving all of Vermont and the northern New York region. With over 7,000 employees, we are the largest private employer in the state of Vermont.

The majority of work will be conducted with patients referred by the Sleep Program. Additional requests may be received from other providers in the Department of Neurology.

Position Summary:

Provides psychological services to patients primarily seen in a multidisciplinary sleep program within a Neurology health care service of an academic medical center.

Services include program development, diagnostic evaluations, psychological intervention, and staff consultation. The successful candidate may provide clinical supervision and training when practicum students, interns, postdoctoral fellows or medical residents.


Minimum three years’ post-licensure experience in Clinical Psychology. Minimum three years’ post-licensure experience in providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy.

Working knowledge of cognitive-behavioral therapy, crisis assessment and intervention, psychological evaluation, psychopathology, pain and anxiety management, health psychology and behavioral medicine.

Specific background in sleep hygiene and sleep disorder prevention and management strongly preferred.


Doctoral degree in clinical psychology from APA accredited program. Completion of internship from APA accredited program. Completion of at least 1 year of postdoctoral training in a health psychology or hospital setting.
