Staff Psychologist, University of Maryland, College Park
The Counseling Center psychologist will be responsible for the provision of counseling and psychological services to a diverse student population in the university community. Successful candidates will demonstrate skills in providing individual and group psychotherapy/counseling, clinical assessment, psychological and career testing, consultation, outreach, and crisis intervention. Candidates with experience, interest, and skills in providing culturally competent care and understanding the unique experiences of marginalized racial minority students are desirable. The generalist psychologist is skilled in fostering the mental health, academic progress and career development of university students through a variety of clinical, psycho-educational and programmatic interventions. Clinical supervision and training of interns, externs, and practicum students are expected of the psychologist in this position. The psychologist will also participate in staff meetings, professional development activities and serve
on Counseling Center and Student Affairs committees.
Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. Successful completion of an APA-accredited internship and licensed (or license-eligible) to practice psychology in the State of Maryland. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Experience working with diverse populations is preferred. Affiliation with national and regional professional organizations; and participation in professional presentations at national and regional conferences are desirable.
