                    Quantitative Psychology Instructor - Position # 26419
 
The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, at the University of Manitoba invites
applications for a three-year term position at the rank of Instructor 1 in Quantitative
Psychology. It is anticipated that a continuing (permanent) instructor position will be
advertised during or at the end of the duration of the term position. The successful
candidate should have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field by the time of
appointment, and demonstrate excellence in teaching quantitative courses.
Responsibilities will include teaching (80%) and service (20%) to the Department,
Faculty, and University, with primary teaching responsibility in the introductory course
sequence for research design and analysis, required of students in all major programs
in Psychology. Ability to teach higher-level quantitative courses in univariate and
multivariate statistics is highly valued as well. Members of academic staff at the
Instructor rank can hold membership in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, upon
recommendation of the Department Head and approval by the Provost and Vice-
President (Academic). Opportunities for this position to be involved in student
supervision exist within the Department’s graduate and honours undergraduate
programs.

 
The Department of Psychology is the largest academic unit in the Faculty of Arts at the
University of Manitoba. We are a research intensive department with approximately 30
faculty members, 12 support staff members, over 100 graduate students, and
approximately 37,000 square feet of space for offices, laboratories, and classrooms.
The University of Manitoba is the province’s largest, most comprehensive postsecondary

currently study in a wide range of programs in the liberal arts and sciences, the creative
arts, and the professions.

The appointment may begin on or after July 1, 2019. The starting salary will reflect the
qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate.
