Psychometrician

Overview

We are currently looking for a Psychometrician to conduct statistical analyses to inform the development of one or more psychological assessments. The Psychometrician will play a lead role in ensuring that our tests/instruments are psychometrically sound as defined by American & Canadian Psychological Association standards.


Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Plan and conduct the high-level psychometric analyses (e.g., factor analyses, Rasch and 3PL models, IRT item analyses, scaling and equating, continuous norming) required for scoring, norming, and validating tests/instruments

  • Specify the samples required to conduct the intended analyses

  • Communicate results, and provide statistical consultation, to authors, coworkers, and customers as necessary

  • Prepare psychometric results for technical manuals/reports, or for journal publication and presenting at conferences

  • Review and learn new statistical techniques and software, and share this knowledge with coworkers and authors as necessary


Qualifications & Skills:

  • M.A. or Ph.D. in Psychology or related field (e.g., Educational Measurement, Statistics) with an emphasis on quantitative data analyses or psychometrics

  • Experience with Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory

  • Experience with equating, linking, and scaling of tests would be an asset

  • Proficient with statistical software (e.g., R, IRTPro, SPSS, Mplus), word processors (e.g., MS Word), spreadsheet packages (e.g., MS Excel), and presentation software (e.g., MS Powerpoint)

  • Strong writing, presentation, and language skills

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as in a team environment
