The Evergreen State College is looking for a full time, 2-year (9 months of employment each year) visiting faculty position in Psychology, with expertise in either Developmental Psychology or Clinical/Counseling Psychology, to teach in our Olympia Daytime curriculum. The ideal candidate should be able to teach human development and introductory psychology, as well as one or more of the following: community psychology, psychological research methods, clinical or counseling theories. A background in issues of diversity, equity, and multiculturalism is required; experience teaching and working with diverse and underserved populations is also highly desirable.
The position is ideal for those wishing to gain experience teaching at a liberal arts college, or for those who are intrigued by Evergreen's alternative approach to pedagogy, particularly our interdisciplinary, team-taught full-time programs of study. The visiting faculty member will co-teach with experienced faculty members in a range of possible interdisciplinary programs, including health sciences and social sciences, with an emphasis on public health and community resilience. Therefore, a demonstrated capacity to make interdisciplinary connections and to address how conditions in communities impact mental health and interact with healthcare systems is also desirable.
