Children's Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) is one of the nation's top pediatric hospitals in the country ranked by Parents magazine and in 8 specialties by U.S News & World Report. CHW currently has 3 psychology positions available:
Three 1.0 FTE positions in The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Center. The center has a dynamic and collaborative staff of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and Master’s Level Therapists.
- Pediatric Psychologist-Gastroenterology: This position provides services to the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. The Division is one of the leading pediatric gastroenterology programs in the United States. There are 16 faculty with a large breadth of clinical and research interests. We are specifically interested in applicants who have training with an emphasis in gastro-intestinal disorders, especially those with experience in neuro-gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disorders (IBD). Our IBD program participates in the national Improve Care Now (ICN) network and the candidate will be expected to work closely with our center ICN team. While this is primarily a clinical position, opportunities for GI-related clinical research are available.
- Clinical Psychologist-Assessment: This position performs clinical intakes, objective assessment services, and ongoing therapy services for children up to 18 years of age in a general clinical outpatient psychiatry setting. Assessment services range from behavioral and emotional screenings to full psychological evaluations using a wide range of current measures. Referrals originate from primary care and subspecialty physicians in addition to the community. Approximately 30% of the clinician’s time may be committed towards individual or family therapy services, with approximately 70% devoted to assessment services. This position offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and program development as we expand our services throughout Wisconsin.
- Pediatric Pain Psychologist: The Jane B Pettit Pain & Headache Center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is a nationally recognized pediatric pain program specializing in the evaluation and treatment of youth with headaches and chronic pain conditions. This position primarily includes clinical work in our outpatient chronic pain and headache clinics. Psychologists work on an interdisciplinary team that includes physicians and advanced practice nurses. Clinical activities include interdisciplinary intake evaluations, outpatient therapy with a primary focus on cognitive behavioral and family systems approaches, biofeedback, collaboration with schools, group therapy, collaboration with health care providers, and care coordination. There are also opportunities for teaching, supervision of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, and pain related research.

Although these are primarily clinical positions, opportunities for research and teaching exist at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin through association with the Medical College of Wisconsin. The minimum requirements for the positions include a Ph.D. or Psy.D in psychology from an APA accredited program, APA accredited internship in clinical child psychology or pediatric health psychology (strongly preferred). Post-Doctoral fellowship with specialization training in pediatric or clinical child psychology is preferred. Wisconsin License (or eligibility) is required.
