Psychologist - Division of Forensic Services

The New York State Office of Mental Health is excited to announce openings in the secure forensic inpatient hospital at Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) in Marcy, NY. The facility serves individuals involved with the criminal justice system pre- and post-adjudication,  including those in need of acute psychiatric care or deemed incompetent  to stand trial. The populations served are extremely diverse, presenting with a broad range of psychiatric, cognitive, medical, behavioral, and  legal issues. Individuals with an interest in and/or experience with culturally responsive and competent approaches to working with under  served populations are encouraged to apply.

The work at CNYPC is unique, dynamic, and an exciting balance of clinical  and forensic challenges. Psychologists may be assigned to specific wardsto provide individual and group treatment and function as part of a  multidisciplinary treatment team. Doctoral-level psychologists conduct a variety of psychological and forensic assessments, including: violence  risk, suicide risk, cognitive issues, diagnostic clarification,  adjudicative and medical competence, psychological autopsies, and  behavior support plans. Additionally, psychologists may serve as supervisors or faculty with the CNYPC Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology

Psychologist - Sex Offender Treatment Program

The New York State Office of Mental Health is excited to announce several  openings at Central New York Psychiatric Centers’ Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP). The SOTP’s mission is to balance individual treatment needs and community safety. We are committed to being a leader in the field of sex offender treatment by implementing the latest research
throughout all aspects of our program. We are seeking candidates to join our team of talented social workers and psychologists in providing high-quality, evidence-based services to residents in our secure treatment facility. Opportunities exist in direct care and treatment, clinical leadership and assessment. Positions are available at Central New York Psychiatric Center’s main hospital in Marcy, New York.

Candidates must have a Master of Psychology Degree from a regionally accredited college or university which prepares graduates for master's level psychologist position in clinical settings and the degree program must have included a psychology practicum or externship

Starting salaries of $73,284 for unlicensed doctoral
level Psychologists and $81,446 for NYS Licensed
