The Psychiatry Department at Yale School of Medicine is seeking candidates for a full-time position as a Psychologist at the rank of Professor. Candidates must have a track record of research in health psychology and with Veterans, specifically in the areas of obesity, eating disorders and pain. Candidates also must have expertise in interdisciplinary education and training.
The successful candidate will benefit from established links to the Yale School of Medicine and VACHS and is expected to have and maintain an active, extramurally funded research program with potential to mentor junior faculty toward independence. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise predoctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows who seek specialized training in healthy psychology and related research within our American Psychological Association APA-accredited Internship and Post-doctoral Residency Programs.
Seventy percent of the position will be dedicated to research serving as Director of the Veterans Initiative for Eating and Weight, a national program dedicated to addressing the broad spectrum of eating and weight problems in the Veteran population through research and expert consultation to national VA policy and operations offices. Thirty percent of the position will be dedicated to educational and mentorship activities serving as a member of training committees and as Director of Education for the Pain, Research, Informatics, Medical comorbidities and Education (PRIME) Center at VACHS.
Eligible candidates must: 1) be a citizen of the United States; 2) have a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed; 3) have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed; 4) hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia, and have clear training and expertise as a health psychologist in the areas of obesity, eating disorders and pain. The appointment will begin as early as July 1, 2019. We are committed to increasing faculty and student diversity.
