East Stroudsburg University's Department of Counseling and Psychological Services invites applications for a full-time, non-classroom continuing faculty position. The Professional Counselor position will report to Health and Wellness Services within the Division of Campus Life and Inclusive Excellence. This is a nine-month Tenure-Track/Instructor-level position.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide a full-range of psychological services to ESU students presenting complex psychological social, personal and family problems using a short term brief therapy model of treatment. Duties include completing intake assessments, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, outreach programming, referral, timely completion of clinical documentation, and related duties within the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services. CAPS faculty also engage in activities of service to the University and the surrounding community, and maintain ongoing Professional Development activities in accordance with requirements of licensure and other scholarly endeavors. Responsibilities include consultation and providing academic guidance/assistance to student and administrative duties not contractually assigned to the department chair. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the director of CAPS.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited institution. A minimum of two years’ experience working with college-age and non-traditional college students. Licensed as a Psychologist or Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania or license eligible at the time of employment in the State of Pennsylvania. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations including traditional and non-traditional college students. Strong understanding of college student development. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention. Three years of experience providing psychological counseling to college-age and non-traditional college students in a university setting. Experience in use of short-term (6-8 sessions), non- weekly, and stepped-care therapy model (s). Experience in group therapy or group therapy program development; experience in developing and presenting educational and outreach programs. Demonstrated experience in addressing the needs of special populations: minority groups women’s issues, gender issues. Experience in the use of Electronic Heath Records.
Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.
