Laboratory for Brain and Cognitive Health Technology

McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School

A full-time postdoctoral position is available within the Laboratory for Brain and Cognitive Health Technology at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School, under supervision of Laura Germine, Ph.D. The expected start date is flexible, but with the expectation that the selected candidate will start between August 2019 and January 2020. The selected candidate will work on projects investigating intra-individual differences in cognition, mood, and behavior across a range of physical and mental health conditions, as well as in healthy aging. These projects include development of state-of-the-art digital technology tools as well as application of time series analysis and informatic approaches. Projects are funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Aging, as well as a newly funded R01 from the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Disease to look at the relationship between mood, cognition, and blood glucose. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to work with cutting edge methods for assessing cognition and behavior using digital technology, as part of Dr. Germine’s laboratory and the TestMyBrain.org project (with data from over 2.3 million participants). The fellow will have access to this data as well as contribute to the further development of web and mobile technologies that serve the public good and advance the science of cognitive health.

Qualifications:

· PhD or equivalent in psychology, neuroscience, epidemiology, statistics, computer science, or a related field is required.

· Interest in measurement as well as novel applications of digital technology towards understanding health and disease.

· Experience or sufficient background to conduct statistical analyses of cognition and behavior.

In addition to an appointment at McLean Hospital, the fellow will be recommended for academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

The Laboratory for Brain and Cognitive Health Technology is part of the Institute for Technology in Psychiatry (ITP), a newly launched initiative at McLean Hospital that aims to develop, validate, and apply mobile, web, and informatics-based health technologies to assess, monitor, and treat mental disorders.
