McLean Hospital is seeking a postdoctoral fellow with a primary focus on EEG/ERP assessment of cognitive affective mechanisms in psychiatric disorders. The fellow will be involved in projects in the Cognition and Affect Research and Education (CARE) Laboratory directed by Dr. Courtney Beard, and collaborate with the Center for Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Research directed by Dr. Diego Pizzagalli. The fellow will have access to the McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School academic environment and resources. The successful candidate will be proposed for academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.


The post-doctoral fellow would assist with collection of EEG/ERP data as part of several ongoing treatment development research projects:

  • Transdiagnostic, smartphone delivered Cognitive Bias Modification (CBM) treatment for severe mood and anxiety disorders
  • Cognitive control training for impulsivity
  • CBM as an augmentation to residential treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder


The fellow would be responsible for overseeing EEG data collection, training and supervising research assistants, data processing and analyses, and manuscript/grant preparation. Current projects are all conducted in multi-disciplinary clinical units; thus, fellows will also have opportunity to gain clinical hours. The fellow would also have the opportunity to lead an independent project. Submission of career development and other grant funding applications during the appointment is encouraged and will be supported.


Qualifications:

  • Recent Ph.D. with experience conducting EEG/ERP studies and with a relevant background, e.g., neuroscience, psychology
  • Experience and interest in programming (Matlab, Python, etc.), data processing, and complex data analysis
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving, communication, organizational and creative skills
