MIT Medical is an accredited ambulatory care center serving the health and wellness needs of the MIT community. We conduct over 120,000 visits annually and are proud to continue a tradition of caring for the Institute community that spans more than a century. Our clinical offerings encompass more than twenty specialties, including dental, eye, adult primary care, pediatrics, mental health, obstetrics, and gynecology. We also provide occupational and employee health services, community wellness programs, and seven-day-a-week urgent care. Mental Health and Counseling Services (SMH&C) is a multidisciplinary group of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and nurse clinicians who value collaboration, collegiality, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice. The service also includes a training program.


The Outreach, Community Education and Prevention Coordinator will facilitate the design, development, and direction of outreach and prevention programming to the MIT community and conduct individual and group counseling as part of the SMH&C clinical staff. The coordinator serves as a member of the services senior team which provides leadership and managerial oversight of the administrative, clinical, consultative, and outreach functions of the service as well as the planning, development and implementation of new programs and initiatives. The coordinator also participates on institute-wide committees and collaborates and consults with administrators, faculty, and students on initiatives/programs related to campus climate and a variety of campus issues.


Qualifications:

· Master’s or doctoral degree in psychology or social work, preferably with training experience at a college counseling center.

· Independent licensure (LICSW, LMHC, or PsyD/Ph.D.) in Massachusetts (or license eligibility within a year of hire).

· Understanding of collegiate mental health and strategies for engaging campus partners, including current trends and key issues.

· Experience in outreach and assessment leadership.

· Supervisory, administrative, and program management experience.

· Experience working with individuals from culturally diverse, underrepresented, and/or underserved populations.

· Demonstrated understanding and experience with the clinical application of the intersectionality of identity and mental health.

· Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and consultation skills and experience with campus and/or key stakeholders.

· Self-motivation.

· Understanding of the developmental issues of college students.

· Strong commitment to diversity and multicultural competency.

· Experience providing counseling services to diverse populations including students of color, international students, and LGBTQ students highly desirable.
