Open Rank Teaching Professor Position in Positive Coaching
The University of Missouri (MU) College of Education seeks an individual to teach and provide leadership for an online master’s program in positive coaching. The successful candidate will be expected to provide high quality instruction, effective management, and global aspirations for the program. The position is a non-tenure track, 11-month faculty position. The program aims to improve coaching skills, foster civil society, and effect change in coaching professionals. The successful candidate will direct and teach in the online program; thus, administrative skills and teaching skills are important. Courses include titles such as Sport and Applied Coaching Psychology, Positive Leadership in Sport, Legal Aspects of Sport and Coaching, Administration of Athletic Programs, Gender Issues in Sport, and others. The department seeks to expand the program, so a strong vision of the field and its stakeholders is important.
The department is interested in candidates who have a record of success advising and mentoring individuals from groups underrepresented in higher education. The department welcomes applications from individuals who may have had nontraditional career paths or who may have taken time off for family reasons (e.g. children, caring for disabled or elderly family), or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia (e.g., in professional or athletic domains).
Candidates are encouraged to describe how diversity issues have been or will be brought into courses. Candidates are encouraged to describe previous activities mentoring women or members of underrepresented groups.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Teaching online courses
- Directing and marketing the online program
- Developing new courses and improving existing courses
- Advising online students
- Developing relations with relevant institutions
- Recruiting students and instructors
- Doctoral degree in a field related to coaching such as coaching education, exercise science, kinesiology, health science, athletic performance, performance psychology, sport psychology, or psychologists with a doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology with knowledge and experience commensurate with the APA Sport Psychology proficiency by the time of appointment (no later than August 1, 2019).

Candidates will be evaluated on the following factors:

This position is in the Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology (ESCP).

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Appointment: Non-tenure-track, 12-month appointment beginning no later than August 1, 2019.
