Southern Virginia University seeks applications for an open rank Professor of Psychology. The successful candidate will teach a wide variety of courses on a 4-4 load, with the possibility of summer teaching, depending on the needs of the Psychology program and the University.
Teaching experience and a PhD in psychology or a PsyD are required. ABD candidates will be considered if the doctoral degree will be completed prior to beginning employment at Southern Virginia University. While the ideal candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses, we are particularly interested in candidates with the ability to teach some or all of the following courses: abnormal psychology, counseling psychology, research methods, personality psychology, cultural psychology, statistics, or other courses that may expand the program’s current course offerings - http://catalog.svu.edu/courses/psychology/.
In addition to teaching, faculty at Southern Virginia University are expected to advise students, engage in service to the University, community, and scholarship. Rank will be determined based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. ABD candidates will only be considered for the rank of assistant professor. The start date is negotiable, with possibilities being August 2019 or January 2020.
