Lecturers in Psychology

The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) is seeking four full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track Lecturers in Psychology to teach primarily in the digital immersion (online) undergraduate and graduate psychology and forensic psychology programs as well as possibly their campus immersion counterparts. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Clinical Psychology; Cognitive Psychology; Developmental Psychology; Forensic, Legal and/or Correctional Psychology; Neuropsychology; Social Psychology; Statistics and Research Methods; and/or Vocational Psychology. Teaching loads for these positions are typically 12 credits per semester (a 4/4 load), with the possibility of summer teaching.


The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences is presently in a period of expansion and innovation around new initiatives and programs in Psychology, including resilience, forensic psychology, and behavioral data science. The School is home to online (digital immersion) and campus immersion-based undergraduate and Master’s programs in Psychology and Forensic Psychology and a doctoral program in Law and Psychology. Since Fall 2017, the School has added two new tenure-track faculty, one new clinical assistant professor, and seven new lecturers in Psychology. This academic year, the School has been approved to recruit one new tenure-track / tenured faculty and the four current lecturer positions in Psychology.


Required Qualifications: The successful candidate must: a) have a doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field by the time of appointment; and, b) a record reflecting experience teaching at the postsecondary level in the field of psychology in the online environment.

Desired Qualifications: a) educational background and/or research or clinical experience in one or more of the following: Clinical Psychology; Cognitive Psychology; Developmental Psychology; Forensic, Legal and/or Correctional Psychology; Neuropsychology; Social Psychology; Statistics and Research Methods; and/or Vocational Psychology; b) demonstrated ability to teach broadly in psychology; c) experience with online learning platforms such as Canvas; d) experience developing new online courses; e) a willingness to teach in campus-based programs, if needed, as well as in the online programs; f) demonstrated familiarity with planning and supervising learning experiences for undergraduate and/or graduate students; g) providing mentoring to undergraduate and/or graduate students; h) experience developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating curricula; i) familiarity with training and supervising course/teaching assistants; j) evidence of teaching excellence; k) evidence of excellent communication skills; and, l) experience working successfully with a diverse student population, including first generation and non-traditional students.
