Head of the Division of Social Science
The Division of Social Science under the School of Humanities and Social Science of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) invites applications and nominations for its headship position.
The Division is multi-disciplinary, with an academic diversity of six disciplines, including faculty in economics, geography, political science, psychology, science, technology & society (STS) as well as sociology. The Division has a highly successful research postgraduate training program which has a strong record of placement at top institutions in Asia and more recently overseas. The Division has an undergraduate program of Quantitative Social Analysis, and offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate program of Global China Studies, jointly with the Division of Humanities.
Reporting to the Dean of Humanities and Social Science, the Head is the chief executive of the Division and is responsible for curriculum planning and development, steering research direction and enhancing research performance, recruiting faculty, promoting programs, and managing resources.
Applicants should be accomplished scholars. In addition to extensive teaching and research experience, the successful candidate should have demonstrated capability to provide academic leadership, with proven academic administrative experience at tertiary level.

Concurrent with a professorial appointment, the appointment as Head will normally be for an initial term of 3 years which may be renewed for a second term. Competitive remuneration and generous fringe benefits, including housing where appropriate, will be provided.
