The Clinical Psychology Department at Antioch University New England (AUNE) seeks applicants to serve as Chair of Clinical Psychology and Director of our APA-Accredited Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program.


About the Position


We invite applications from candidates with the professional track record and potential to assume a leadership role in our department and profession. We seek a department chair with excellent organizational and communication skills and a vision for the future of clinical psychology and doctoral psychology education and training. In addition, we seek a chair with a collaborative leaders hip style who will enjoy teamwork and collaboration as part of a close-knit community of teachers and learners. Above all, our chair must have a passion for teaching and mentoring clinical psychology graduate students.


The successful candidate will have completed an APA – accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology and be licensed or license-eligible in NH. We particularly invite candidates who will enhance the racial, ethnic, nationality, or cultural diversity of our program community.


The Chair of the Clinical Psychology Department focuses on providing vision and leadership to our accredited Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) Program in Clinical Psychology, and oversees the management of our three training and service centers: the Psychological Services Center, Center for Behavioral Health Innovation, and Antioch Multicultural Center for Research and Practice. The Chair also serves as a member of the Provost’s leadership team and represents the Department with external stakeholders.


The Chair is responsible for the Department and Center budgets and supervises all faculty and staff, including the directors of our three centers. Program leadership is distributed across multiple core faculty members who are responsible for specific program components, such as Student Affairs, Internship, Practicum, Research/Dissertation, Diversity, and Admissions. Department chairs serve three­ year, renewable appointments and report to the campus Provost, and most Chairs serve for multiple terms.


The successful candidate will also become a member of the core faculty at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Core faculty are expected to demonstrate achievement in the areas of student engagement, scholarly activity, and service, including administrative functions within the department and university. Area of clinical/scholarly expertise is open.


This is a full-time, 12-month position, with academic rank and paid vacation. Opportunities for up to one day per week of professional practice are also available.


About the Department, Campus, and University


AUNE’s PsyD program has been accredited by APA since 1986. We follow (indeed, were instrumental in developing) the Practitioner-Scholar model of training as described by the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology. We have 12 full -time faculty and seek approximately two dozen students per cohort. Our students complete four years of full-time study including practica and a dissertation, and complete an internship in the fifth year. Our graduates fulfill multiple professional roles as reflective practitioners, integrating our core program values of relationship, evidence-based practice, and social justice and diversity.


Antioch University New England, one of five regional campuses, uses a distinctive graduate education pedagogy that mixes rigor with experiential learning and social engagement. AUNE is located in the beautiful Monadnock Region of NH, two hours from Boston and Hartford. Keene is home to several colleges and universities. Although a small city of 24,000, Keene is a small city at with well-developed business, social, and educational resources.
