FULL PROFESSOR IN DEVELOPMENTAL METHODOLOGY AND ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, INSTITUTE FOR APPLIED RESEARCH IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

The Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University invites applications for a tenured full professor position. The successful candidate will teach in the Department and, as well, be appointed as Associate Director of the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development (IARYD), one of the major research centers within the Department and University. The successful candidate will: 1. Teach existing courses and develop new courses in developmental methodology, particularly regarding idiographic and dynamic models of human development; developmental theory, and positive development among diverse youth, particularly youth who have experienced adversity and challenge; 2. Lead research within and further the grant-funded research agenda of IARYD; and 3. Train graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in the strength-based approach to youth development framing the work of IARYD.

Candidates must possess a doctorate in psychology or in one of the fields associated with developmental science (e.g., human development, child development, or human ecology). Expertise is necessary in theory, methods, and research framed by dynamic, relational developmental systems models of the development of diverse youth, in strength-based approaches to program design, implementation, and evaluation, and in the use of change-sensitive developmental methods assessing trajectories of individual-context relations. Experience in directing or providing leadership for a center pertinent to the applied developmental science scholarly agenda of IARYD is desirable although not required. A record of successful publications in the application of developmental science promoting the positive development of diverse young people, and a demonstrated level of grant-supported research that reflects high productivity relative to the applicant’s career stage, is required.

All applications are submitted via Interfolio, at apply.interfolio.com/64725 . Interested candidates should send a letter of application, a vita, three representative scholarly publications, and the names of three colleagues who could be contacted for reference letters. For questions, please contact Mary Ellen Santangelo at maryellen.santangelo@tufts.edu. Review of applications will begin Sept. 1, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.
