FRGV0853: Open Rank Clinical Psychologist (Asst/Assoc/Full Professor) in Psychological Science/College of Liberal Arts

The Department of Psychological Science at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track position (open rank) in the area of Clinical Psychology. The area of research specialization within the area of clinical psychology is open. Consistent with UTRGV’s goal of becoming a research emergent university and the department’s development of an accredited PhD program in clinical psychology, (www.utrgv.edu/graduate/for-future-students/graduate-programs/program-requirements/clinical-psychology-phd/index.htm) we seek candidates who demonstrate ability to: maintain an active program of research, seek extramural research funding, mentor and supervise doctoral level students in research and clinical activities, and teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. A PhD from an APA-accredited program in clinical psychology or foreign equivalent is required.

The PhD program in clinical psychology has recently been approved by the Texas State Higher Education Coordinating Board and will be recruiting candidates in the fall of 2018 in order to admit its first cohort in September, 2019. You will be part of this new initiative to develop bilingual clinical psychologists experts in serving the needs of the Hispanic/Mexican American population of the Rio Grande Valley and the USA. The university was awarded six million dollars by the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation to develop the PhD program and we are opening a state of the art training clinic in January, 2018 where students can train and clinical faculty can conduct clinically relevant research.

UTRGV faculty are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions, as well as a commitment to UTRGV’s vision, mission and core priorities (www.utrgv.edu/strategic-plan/strategic-plan/index.htm).

Interested candidates should send a cover letter specifying the position and rank for which they are applying, a curriculum vitae, contact information for three letters of reference, a research and teaching statement, and three representative publications. Applications should be submitted online at https://careers.utrgv.edu. Questions about the position can be sent to Dr. Arthur Cantos, Director of Clinical Training, at Arthur.cantos@utrgv.edu.
