The Forensic/Clinical Psychologist works directly under the Programme Director to provide a range of professional psychological assessment and treatment services to inmates in accordance with the relevant legislation, Department policies and procedures and professional standards, designed to address inmates’ needs and designed to effect positive changes in their behavior so that they are not likely to reoffend.
Applicants must possess a Doctoral Degree (PhD) or equivalent in Forensic or Clinical Psychology or relevant field of study is required and be able to meet the criteria for registration with the Bermuda Psychologists Association (under the Psychological Practitioners' Registration, 2003). The post requires a minimum of five years’ post qualification experience working in a correctional setting, with a special emphasis on sexual, violent and low functioning offenders.
Applicants who do not possess a Doctoral Degree (PhD) may also be considered for the post if they possess the following; a Master’s Degree in Clinical or Forensic Psychology, with at least six years post qualification work experience directly with offender populations in correctional or community-based settings or is a Chartered Psychologist with a Master's Degree (as accredited by the British Psychological Society) with at least five years’ post qualification experience.
