The Department of Family and Community Medicine, Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, is recruiting for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to research that enhances primary care for socially-complex populations and a history of collaborative research in areas such as chronic disease management, primary care practice transformation, underserved populations, and health disparities. Expertise or experience in study design and quantitative and qualitative analytic approaches is desired. The candidate should have a track record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and external funding or ability to obtain funding within the first two years. In addition to developing their own extramurally-funded research program, the faculty member should be dedicated to developing collaborative, multidisciplinary research projects and providing mentorship to a range of learners and fellow faculty. Applicants must have a terminal degree in a relevant discipline (PhD, DrPH, MD, DO, PharmD). Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.
The Department of Family and Community Medicine was founded in 1974 and currently has over 50 faculty members. The Department has a vibrant, collegial scholarly environment and a robust research infrastructure supporting an array of projects. Our funders include PCORI, NIH, SAMHSA, the CDC, HRSA, and a number of private organizations. Potential research sites include Jefferson Family Medicine Associates, which has 30,000 patients making over 85,000 visits annually, and multiple clinical affiliate sites. Our researchers also have strong research partnerships with Jefferson’s Center for Urban Health, Jefferson College of Population Health, the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, and numerous community partners.
