The Division of the Vice Provost for University Life (VPUL) is Penn's foremost provider of student services and educational access. VPUL partners and collaborates with diverse organizations across many dimensions including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, historical tradition, age, religion, disabilities, veteran status, interests, perspectives, and socioeconomic backgrounds. University Life programs provide academic and career support, campus and community engagement, health and wellness programs for25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Duties

Reporting to the Chief Wellness Officer (CWO), the Executive Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will lead a transformative organizational and operational evolution as CAPS joins a new, integrated Penn Student Wellness Center devoted to nurturing the holistic well-being of a vibrantly diverse student community and a cohesive vision for wellness across campus. CAPS provides comprehensive, world class mental health services that nurture the resilience of nearly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.


The Executive Director will serve as a thoughtful partner and collaborator with Penn Student Wellness Center colleagues representing the Student Health Service, Campus Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Program Initiatives, and Penn Violence Prevention. The Executive Director will also be deeply engaged with Penn students and with Student Intervention Services, Special Services (within the Division of Public Safety), the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the President's Office, the Provost's Office, the Office of the Chaplain, and key partners in all 12 schools.


Specifically, the Executive Director of Counseling and Psychological Services will:

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of clinical and administrative staff in the delivery of services that incorporate contemporary and innovative models of care, promote collaboration, and assure cultural competency and continual professional development

• Provide strategic vision and campus-wide leadership on mental health and wellness issues, representing Penn's mission and values with internal and external constituencies including students, families, administrators, faculty, and staff

• Promote engagement and collaboration with student groups, leaders, and individual students to ensure that Penn continues to provide best-in-class mental health care and wellness services

• Use quantitative and qualitative metrics to assess CAPS services and programs and continuously evaluate the efficacy of care to students including underserved cohort communities.


Qualifications

This position requires a doctoral degree in Counseling or a Clinical Psychology or related discipline. In addition, a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a clinical setting is required, preferably in a college counseling center. Must be licensed or license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Evidence of successful administrative or program coordination experience is highly desirable. Must be able to perform administrative and clinical duties under pressure. Must have previous supervisory experience. Must be available nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
