Director of Training Clinic


In fulfillment of a long-term goal, the Michigan School of Psychology will open a psychology training clinic during the 2019-2020 academic year. The opening is planned for late in the Fall semester 2019.

We are seeking talented applicants with a commitment to excellence in psychology training for a full-time (40 hours per week), salaried position with potential for a multiple year contract after the first year of successful employment. Starting in the Summer of 2019, this is an administrative faculty leadership position reporting to the Vice President. The Director is responsible for leadership and day-to-day operations of the Clinic, including community outreach to promote this new service. Applicants must have excellent experience in psychological practice, clinic operations and training, and the ability to expand community services and foster collaborations. This position is fully funded by the School. The Director will join the MSP President in advocating for additional financial support for clinic programs through grant and foundation funding. The ideal candidate will support the values and mission of MSP, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have a record of achievement in the field of health services psychology, research and clinical practice.

The Clinic is a training site for the MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology students. Clinical services will be provided by practicum and internship students under the supervision of faculty and the Clinic Director. Individual, group and assessment services will be provided for a variety of populations, children to adult, from local and surrounding communities.

The Clinic Director will:

· Have experience in working with diverse populations and in clinical supervision

· Possess knowledge of practice management, to include utilization of scheduling and record keeping software

· Possess knowledge of evidence based clinical practices

· Demonstrate clinical knowledge, experience and expertise; possess knowledge of the provisions of HIPAA as it pertains to psychology training clinics

· Develop a culture of evidence through an ongoing assessment and evaluation of clinic services

· Monitor alignment with best practices and APA clinic requirements; facilitate planning for APA accreditation for the clinic

· Have demonstrated experience in collaboration and leadership of peers and students/supervisees

A summary of duties include: supervision of practicum and internship students in evidence based treatment and assessment, oversight of scheduling and clinic operations, serving as licensed psychologist on duty, attending faculty meetings, consulting on psychological assessment of children and adults, providing training and consultation to students, building community partnerships through outreach, and increasing utilization of clinic services (developing goals, increasing service/client load).

This is a full-time, 12-month appointment, with the potential for a multiple year contract after the first year of successful employment. The position comes with a competitive salary and benefits package as provided for Administrative Faculty and Leadership employees.

· a doctorate degree in Psychology (PhD/PsyD) from an APA accredited program

· fully licensed psychologist in the State of Michigan (license required by October 1, 2019)

· 5 years of experience in psychological practice, clinic administration or combination of comparable activity preferred

· experience in providing clinical supervision, mentoring and supervising student research

· the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty and professional staff; ability to work as a collegial team member

· the ability to communicate effectively interpersonally and in writing

· leadership, team building and networking skills

· to be skilled in computer technology to include EMR

· clinical research and/or grant writing experience desirable
