Job Description:
This position may be located on the San Diego or San Francisco campus. The Dean of the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP), under the general direction of the Provost and Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs, is responsible for the oversight of the school's doctoral, master's, bachelor's and certificate level Clinical Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Couple and Family Therapy, Clinical Counseling, Clinical Psychopharmacology, and Undergraduate Psychology programs. CSPP programs and certificates are located across six campuses, some of which are delivered online, and serve an enrollment of approximately 1,700 students. The Dean provides inspirational, innovative, and enterprising leadership in the strategic development of the School to assure the relevancy and high quality of academic programs, and to support strong student outcomes and achievement, faculty mentorship, new program development and growth, streamlined operations, recognition of the CSPP brand, and high levels of faculty and student morale and satisfaction.

Responsibilities include school-wide and system-wide academic planning, faculty recruitment, retention, and development, budget development and management, supervision of program directors, student success and the quality of the academic programs and certificates. The Dean is an integral part of the university leadership team and works to foster a quality learning community. The position requires knowledge of the degrees and disciplines in psychology, behavioral health and behavioral sciences, as well as familiarity with psychology training at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Academic Responsibilities: Provide oversight of all academic aspects of the CSPP including:
Oversight of academic curriculum.
Oversight of school-wide policy and procedures including admissions, curriculum, institutional aid, grading, etc.
Compliance with WSCUC guidelines and regulations.
Compliance with APA, COAMFTE, CACREP, and other requisite specialty accreditation guidelines.
Assessment of educational effectiveness.
Management of the School budget.

Governance and Planning:
Provide leadership regarding the strategic direction of CSPP and its programs;
Participate in university governance and planning by serving on the President's Cabinet and Academic Council.
Develop a growth strategy for the School that is synergistically related to and supportive of the strategic operating goals and objectives of the University and its mission, including close collaboration with colleagues from across the University.
Academic Leadership and Organizational Administration Experience: Provide academic and organizational leadership, with emphasis on facilitating faculty engagement in:
Upholding the mission of CSPP as a major academic entity of Alliant International University, a professional practice university;
Assuring the highest quality of education and training for students in CSPP's professional programs through active support of faculty in their various activities and overall performance;
Assuring compliance with, even exceeding, relevant certification and accreditation requirements and standards;
Managing and enhancing the resources requisite to the delivery of CSPP's programs;
Developing strategic planning that advances CSPP's overall growth and health moving forward; and
Designing innovative curricula, in conjunction with the faculty, to address the changing demands of the profession and the environment in which it operates, including expansion of delivery models and extension into new market segments.
Facilitate interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration throughout the Alliant system.
Oversee Alumni development.
Foster marketing and public relations for CSPP to promote its programs including external liaison between CSPP-Alliant and California Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, Board of Behavioral Sciences, Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs, California Board of Psychology, Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and other licensing and accreditation entities.
Ensure CSPP's commitment to an integrated approach to multicultural and international competencies inside and outside the classroom leading to a faculty and staff development program, curricular transformation, and impacting improved student and faculty morale.
Foster faculty and staff trainings related to ethics, professionalism, and Inclusive Excellence that align with the University's commitment to diversity, multicultural, intercultural, and equality initiatives and practices.
Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.

Technical and Professional Skills
Knowledge of psychology, behavioral health, behavioral science, and professional practice issues in the variety of disciplines offered at the school;
Knowledge of graduate education and training in psychology and other mental health disciplines;
Experience or familiarity with WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), American Psychological Association (APA), Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), and Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accreditation policies and procedures;
Strong and effective oral and written communication skills with ability to articulate University's and School's mission and strategic goals and objectives;
Understanding of the principles and practices of policy and strategic development, implementation, and evaluation.

Requirements:
Education: A doctoral degree in a discipline that is within the scope of the School's/program foci

Experience:
5-10 Years of experience and evidence of successful leadership in higher education and management roles;
Familiarity with psychology at the graduate and undergraduate levels;
Substantial experience as a faculty member and academic administrator;
Evidence of effective strategic planning and implementation experience;
Experience in facilitating learning;
A record of scholarship productivity;
Financial management and budgeting experience.
Licensure, Certifications, etc.: Appropriate licensure and/or certification for practice in own discipline.
