Gettysburg College, in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced professional for a full-time, term appointment to the position of Counselor/Program Coordinator for a Mental Health/Suicide Prevention Grant the College was awarded from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).  Gettysburg College is a highly selective, residential undergraduate liberal arts college, which enrolls approximately 2,600 students.

The Program Coordinator position is a full time/37.5 hours a week assignment scheduled to work 11 months per year. The Program Coordinator will provide 12 hours of clinical time/week; the balance of time is to be devoted to coordination and implementation of appropriate programming/outreach activities specific to the grant, establishing and maintaining partnerships with key local agencies for collaboration towards program development, and some data collection.   This is a three year appointment.

Principle responsibilities include:

  1. Provide up to 12 hours/week of counseling to students on campus.

  2. Develop and maintain a Campus Advisory Council and collaborative relationships with area hospitals and agencies.

  3. Implement prevention programming, including QPR, for students and staff.

  4. Administer the Healthy Minds Survey on campus at the start and end of the grant period.

A Master’s Degree in counseling or a related field is required, as is PA licensure in that field.  Successful candidates will have clinical expertise as well as experience presenting about issues in mental health.  Superior organization is a must.  Ideal candidates will also have experience with data collection/survey administration, which will be used to measure the effectiveness of the program.

In keeping with its strategic focus and activity outlined in the awarded grant, Gettysburg College is interested in candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable and diverse campus community and working with underserved students. Applicants must be student-centered and able to connect with a broad array of students, faculty, administrators, and community partners.

The Counselor/Project Coordinator position is an 11-month (one month off each summer), full-time appointment extending three years past the person’s start date at the College.  Salary is $50,000/year and is complemented by an excellent benefits package.  Please visit our website to submit application materials (cover letter, resume and contact information for three professional references) through our on-line system  Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Gettysburg College is committed to creating a more diverse community. As part of that process, the College encourages candidates from historically underrepresented groups to apply.
