The University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking to hire a mental health counselor to join the staff at the Student Health and Counseling Center. A degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a related discipline is required. A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred. Applicant must be licensed in Alaska or eligible for licensure within 2 years. The successful applicant will hold a regular, benefited position at UAF. This is a full time, benefited, 40 hours per week position during which is a 9 month contract for the academic year. The academic year is mid-August through mid-May.
The successful applicant must be able to start in this position in mid-August 2019.
Minimal qualification for the position is as follows:
Mastery of counseling theory and techniques, consultation skills, crisis intervention theory and techniques, and clinical record keeping; training and experience in development and effective presentation of outreach and prevention programs; thorough knowledge of current ethical principles, practices and standards of care for providing psychological services; human relations skills and knowledge of effective consultation methods; working knowledge of State of Alaska mental health and child/elder abuse Statutes. Computer proficiency in an office setting.
