Job Duties include but are not limited to:

Langley AFB:

  • Individual, family and group psychotherapy, and couples therapy, alcohol and drug treatment evaluations.

  • Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.

  • Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.

  • Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.

  • Assist in rehabilitation of patients.

Moody AFB:

  • Provides brief (typically no more than four appointments) cognitive/behavioral interventions in primary care under the Air Force consultation model (i.e., per the Air Force Behavioral Health Optimization Program Practice Manual). Services will mimic the pace of primary care (i.e., patients seen for 15- to 30-minute appointments)

  • Effectively manage a full daily patient load, as defined by the Mental Health Business Practice Standards and BHOP Manual of completing approximately 8-14 patient encounters per day

  • Assess barriers to treatment adherence and help patient problem-solve solutions to barriers.

  • May provide classes in format appropriate for primary care (e.g., stress management class, sleep enhancement class, chronic pain class).

  • Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally dangerous.

  • Must possess organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/care givers, medical and non-medical staff in a professional and courteous way.

  • Ensures PCMs receive same-day verbal and/or written feedback on patients referred. May participate in group medical appointments, including Shared Medical Appointments (SMA) and Drop in Group Medical Appointments (DIGMA), as requested by the PCM.

Columbus AFB:

  • Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to, the following: Quality Improvement meeting, professional staff meetings, Commander’s staff meeting, Mental Health Flight meetings, and others required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by the Mental Health Flight Commander or his/her designated representative.

  • Conduct applied research and clinical investigations in clinical/behavioral health psychology.

  • Clinical/Counseling Psychology. Responsible for and applies psychological procedures and techniques, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, evidenced-based therapies, and psychological testing/psych diagnostic testing, in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and neuropsychological disorders.

  • Individual, family and group psychotherapy, and couples therapy, alcohol and drug treatment evaluations.

  • Consults with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders and school districts, as required.

  • Maintain accurate and current notes in both the Mental Health records and inpatient medical records of all patients seen, as appropriate, and procedures reports of evaluation and/or treatment, as required.

  • Participates in military specific training (i.e. training to perform Command Directed Evaluations, security clearances, Military Training Instructor clearances, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress.

Minimum Qualifications:


Completion of the following if required for All Positions:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD). in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited university.

  • Successful completion of an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.


Langley AFB:

  • Have a minimum of one year experience as a licensed clinical psychologist.

Moody AFB:

  • Must have 24 months of experience within the last 36 months as a Clinical Psychologist

  • Must have one year experience in the last three years in the evaluation and treatment of patients who have pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medical problem sand assessing and providing evidence based individual counseling to patients within a mental health or health care facility.

  • Prefer those with recent experience providing integrated behavioral health services within a primary care setting.

  • Must have at least 12 months of direct hands-on experience in the last 24 months with computer operations, basic word processing, data entry, and use of an automated medical record system. Demonstrate proficiency to input, send, and retrieve patient information utilizing electronic medical record and patient care databases. Maintain patient information in a patient registry. Maintain accurate and current notes in the electronic medical records of all patients contacted for review by the managing physician. Complete computer-based training as required. Proficiency with Microsoft
    Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is required.

Columbus AFB:

  • Must have clinical experience in the past two years


All Positions:

  • National Background Investigation

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from site

License/Certification and Training:

Required for all positions:

  • Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted license or certification to practice as Psychologist in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the US Virgin Islands

  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association or American Red Cross

  • Shall be in good standing, and under no clinical restrictions, with the state licensure board in any state in which a license is held or has been held within the last 10 years. Contractor personnel shall maintain current certification in required training.


Langley AFB:

  • Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM

  • On-Call (est. one week per month)

Moody AFB:

  • Monday – Friday (8/hour shifts)

  • Between 7:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.

  • Federal holidays not required

Columbus AFB:

  • Monday to Friday

  • 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Federal holidays not required
