Job Description:

Position Summary:

Widener University is seeking a Staff Psychologist to work at the Counseling Center. The Staff Psychologist position is a 10-month administrative role that works alongside the Director and other staff psychologist and provides access to counseling, psychotherapy, education, assessment, and referral to psychiatric services for the university's diverse undergraduate student population. This position reports to the Director of the Counseling Center and subsequently to the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs. The Counseling Center falls under the umbrella of Academic Support Services. The Counseling Center applies a holistic approach to help students achieve greater self-awareness and self-regulation, improve relationships, and attain independence as they progress toward successful degree completion.

Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Clinical Service, Case Management, Consultation and Professional Issues and Ethics:

  • Assists the Director with the provision of individual therapy services to graduate and undergraduate students

  • Coordinates with other psychologists to provide after hours on call coverage.

  • Consults and works collaboratively with the Director, counseling staff members and the consulting psychiatrist

  • Facilitates communication with faculty, staff, parents, and students around counseling issues where needed

  • Collaborates with departments across campus to provide holistic services in a timely manner

  • Responsible for compliance with all professional, state and federal laws, policies and ethics (FERPA, HIPAA, PA State Licensing Laws, APA Code of Ethics, Title IX)

  • Responsible to keep all student files and other paper work up to date


Supervision and Training:

  • Participation in regular group and individual meetings with Counseling Center staff

  • Supervise Psy.D. interns

  • Participates in weekly case conference for graduate interns


SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Campus Partnerships and Outreach:

  • Serve on interdepartmental committees and task forces as requested that may include, yet are not limited to: the Behavior Intervention Team; After-hours Crisis Management Team; Traumatic Brain Injury Support Committee and other university committees as assigned

  • Assists with the development of targeted outreach programs including Freshman Seminars and Orientation Sessions for transfer students, international students, fraternity and sorority life, and student athletes, among others

  • Assists the Director to accommodate ongoing student, faculty, and staff programming requests


Job Qualifications:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training and Experience Required): The psychologist will hold a Doctoral Degree in Clinical/ Counseling Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D.), a PA Psychology License, have a minimum of 3-5 years of post-doctoral clinical experience with some previous college counseling center experience, as well as the provision of supervision to graduate interns.


Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Rotating after-hours on-call, crisis intervention coverage, as well as structured evening programming
