District Medical Group of Arizona (DMG) is seeking a Clinical Psychologist for a position at the Arizona Burn Center at Maricopa Integrated Health System in Phoenix, AZ. The Arizona Burn Center is the only verified burn center in the state of Arizona. We are the second largest burn center overall, and the largest academic burn center in the USA. We admit 1000 patients annually, and 25 % of these are pediatric patients. We see 6000 patients as outpatients and 15 to 20 patients daily in the burn emergency department. We educate learners at multiple levels of health care training and we have an extensive clinical research program. There are 4 surgeons, 3 pediatricians, 7 physician assistants and nurse practitioners, nine occupational and physical therapists, our own pharmacist and nutritionist, and over 100 nurses, in addition to multiple consultants in all medical fields.
Candidates for the position of psychologist for the burn center must have a degree in clinical psychology, expertise in health psychology, and be eligible for Psychology licensure in Arizona. The psychologist functions as an integral part of the burn care team, participating in daily rounds with the rest of the care team and providing inpatient and outpatient clinical assessments and therapy. Experience in providing psychological care in a medical setting is preferred, as is expertise in treatment of post-traumatic and pain conditions. Clinical research experience is beneficial, but not required. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills; be able to work with other caregivers as a team; be able to assess and treat individuals of all ages; and be willing to participate in the education of a variety of learners (medical students, nursing students, PA/NP students, surgical and ED residents, EMTs, military medics, firefighters, etc.) encountered on the Burn Unit. Faculty appointment is available at the Creighton University School of Medicine and the University of Arizona School of Medicine in Phoenix.
