The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Nevada Reno, School of Medicine seeks candidates for a full-time, non-tenure track, Clinical Psychologist.   Rank and salary dependent on background and experience.  Program and position highlights:

  • Extensively involved in the teaching of medical students, psychiatric residents, and child/adolescent psychiatric fellows
  • Strong background in the theory and practice of either psychodynamic psychotherapy or cognitive-behavioral therapy is required for provision of supervision
  • Teaching will involve a broad range of issues in developmental and clinical psychology
  • Interest and expertise in group psychotherapy, as well as a record of scholarly publications with a continuing interest in research, are preferred
  • Clinical responsibilities include psychological assessment and treatment for patients, in inpatient and/or outpatient settings
  • Individual, group, and couples or family therapy are possible
  • Participation in regular Department faculty meetings and some administrative tasks in the Department and/or the School of Medicine are required
  • Other responsibilities will be determined based on the applicant's interest and background

  • Desire to work with students
  • Willingness to work in a consult position
  • Autonomy, motivation, flexibility, and an interest in scholarly activity
  • UNR Med's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences includes an accredited psychiatric residency training program and child/adolescent fellowship and welcomes interested faculty to be involved in psychotherapy supervision


Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Psychology or a PsyD, as well as be eligible for licensure in the state of Nevada
  • A strong background in the theory and practice of either psychodynamic psychotherapy or cognitive-behavioral therapy
