Michigan Center for Advanced Psychology Training (MICAPT) is a 2 Year APA-Accredited Clinical Health Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship located in Flint, Michigan. One immediate opening is available, with 2 additional openings to start September 2020. This fellowship prepares graduates for leadership positions in Health Psychology and Medical Education. Opportunities are available to teach medical students and resident physicians at McLaren Flint, with faculty appointment through the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Health Psychology training involves a variety of clinical experiences in sub-specialties, including inpatient and outpatient work, in integrated primary care, consultation-liaison, pain management, geriatrics, psychosocial oncology, and more. Opportunities to supervise psychology practicum students and take on other leadership roles, such as on hospital committees, are available. A formal didactic curriculum is provided to all fellows to supplement learning, with additional exposure to medicine via various medical education series. A robust wellness program exists for fellows, highlighting work-life balance, resiliency, and team cohesion. Additional wellness opportunities include teaching well-being to medical learners. Community involvement opportunities have significantly increased since the Flint Water Crisis, providing avenues to participate in cutting-edge research and community outreach.
Preferred candidates have experience in Health Psychology, a desire to care for the medically under-served, and an interest in the development of population health initiatives.
