The Cleveland Clinic Digestive Diseases Institute and Neurological Institute announce a search for a health psychologist with specialization in the area of Bariatric Surgery/Weight Management/Digestive Diseases Clinical Health Psychology available immediately at the Cleveland Clinic, a World Class academic medical center rated among the top 4 hospitals in America. Cleveland Clinic’s Bariatric & Metabolic Institute (BMI) is one of the nation’s premiere clinical programs and is certified as a Center of Excellence by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The BMI, the largest bariatric center in the state of Ohio, has a high level of clinical and research productivity, a diverse patient population, and considerable opportunity for interdisciplinary interaction. Candidates would provide comprehensive evaluations and individual and group-based interventions for patients undergoing behavioral weight management and bariatric surgery. Other opportunities are available in broader aspects of health psychology including pre-surgical evaluations and psychological interventions within the Digestive Disease Institute. Our department offers a rich multidisciplinary collaborative environment for research. There is a strong educational component to the position, and the successful applicant will play a role in the supervision of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students’ research and clinical training. Other potential teaching roles include teaching of residents in many disciplines, and teaching of medical students in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (CCLCM; a branch of Case Western Reserve University). The successful applicant will be appointed to the CCLCM at a level commensurate with experience.
Applicants must have completed a doctoral degree from an APA- or CPA-accredited psychology program, completed an internship with experience in health psychology and have completed a postdoctoral fellowship with specialization. Eligibility for licensure in Ohio is essential.
