The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences seeks an individual with an outstanding record of clinical operational leadership, scientific and educational achievement, and faculty/trainee recruitment and mentoring for the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology. This position reports to the Executive Vice President for Clinical Affairs and Dean of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences. The successful candidate must possess the minimum qualifications of an M.D. degree or equivalent, board certification in Anesthesiology, a distinguished record of academic/clinical experience, research productivity and skill in managing clinical activities within an academic and managed care environment.
It is expected that the new Chair will provide strategic leadership within the Department; work collaboratively across the organization and affiliation; be committed to the training of medical students, anesthesiology residents and fellows; and expand the scope of research. The Chair is responsible for ensuring provision of anesthesia service in a wide range of settings including but not limited to the operating room, including coverage in the intra-operative radiation therapy suites, cardiac catheterization labs, CT and MRI suites, and endoscopy.
The Department of Anesthesiology’s educational programs include a fully accredited residency, Fellowship in Pain and clinical clerkship for medical students. It is the mission of the Department to improve health in the communities and region by educating excellent clinicians and scientists in providing patient centered and high-quality care and producing nationally recognized research in focused areas.
