Behavioral Health Deputy Director

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) seeks a seasoned, collaborative, and passionate deputy behavioral health director, to help lead our newly realigned integrated Behavioral Health Care program.

What you will do:

You will be a key contributor in helping develop and guide an innovative and equitable behavioral health care delivery system through partnership with stakeholders, community partners, and Oregon coordinated care organizations (CCO’s) and government-to-government relationship with Oregon Tribes to advance our state’s health system transformation. Your leadership will influence data-informed decisions founded upon best practices to facilitate change in policies and funding that support an effective system of statewide alcohol, drug, and problem gambling treatment policies and services. You will be responsible to manage, develop, and implement policies and procedures to ensure the quality of behavioral health prevention and treatment services for Oregonians.

Requested skills

  • Eight years of progressive management experience in a public or private organization, preferably in a behavioral health program.
  • Understanding and skill-sets needed to work in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders to improve Oregon's behavioral health systems.
  • In-depth understanding of behavioral health prevention and treatment technologies and evidence-based practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise working across agency lines in partnership and collaboration to connect agency priorities with division/department priorities.
  • Experience in health equity, addressing systemic health disparities and collaborating with diverse, vulnerable, and underrepresented populations.
  • Possess trauma-informed and cultural competency skills, and have experience developing, implementing policies and programs that promote equity and reduce disparities.
  • Experience building and stewarding positive relationships with diverse community groups including communities of color, immigrant groups, the disability community, and other traditionally marginalized communities
  • Proven ability to inspire and develop a team to drive high performance, engagement and professional growth.
  • Proven ability to shape and drive strategic agendas, policy development, expert data synthesis, and high-profile communications
  • Preference may be given to applicants with clinical experience in substance use disorder or applicants who have a master’s degree in clinical psychology, social work, or related field.
