The Department is seeking qualified applicants for a Behavioral Health Coordinator.
- Developing and implementing a new behavioral health program for the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System to assist System Members who witness traumatic events in the capacity of a first responder
- Developing and maintaining an atmosphere of openness, approachability and inclusion so System Members feel comfortable discussing personal issues
- When presented with the opportunity, the Behavioral Health Coordinator will serve as a case manager, by completing an intake and triage visit with interested System Members and help to connect to appropriate resources through either the employee assistance program or county health plan providers
- Will advocate for and provide supporting data for current and future behavioral health programming
- Ensures the provision of continuous stress management resiliency through training and education for all System Members to address ongoing, non-critical, job-related stress by encouraging a proactive response to stress management
- Responsible for creating and leading the System's Peer Support Team that will assist System Members who witness traumatic events; in this capacity the BHC will be responsible for managing the selection process for team members and ensure regularly recurring professional development and training of peer support team members
- Will manage, develop and oversee the implementation of objectives, strategies, policies and procedures for the Peer Support Team
- work with the Employee Assistance Program to identify affiliate counselors with background and expertise in working with the first responder community
- develop training opportunities for the affiliate counselors in order to become more familiar and acquainted with both the emergency first responders and their work, in general, as well as specifically the Combined Fire and Rescue System in Loudoun County
- Will supervise assigned staff as needed
- Employees in this class have a mandatory licensure requirement, as cited in Virginia Board of Licensing which contains regulations governing the practice of clinical counseling/psychotherapy. One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Virginia, must be held and maintained by the employee:
- Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
- Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 are required to meet the requirements of this position
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
A subject to call status may occur during large-scale/emergency events with frequent meetings and paging while off duty. Occasional nights, weekend commitment is expected. The position is occasionally exposed to climatic extremes when support at an emergency scene is required.
The selection process will be comprehensive and may include an application review, panel interview, a final interview, presentation(s) to stakeholder groups and a comprehensive background check to include criminal record check, DMV and fingerprinting. May require occasional stooping, bending, and/or light lifting.
