The Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking an Associate Director for the Office of Applied Psychological Services (OAPS), effective immediately. OAPS is the training clinic for the Department’s APA-accredited Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and provides services to adults and children in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The Clinical Psychology Program endorses a scientist-practitioner training model, has been accredited by APA since 1974, and is a member of the Academy of Psychological Sciences.
The position is a 12-month appointment. Duties involve training students in the evidence-based practice of clinical psychology, providing therapy and assessment supervision of clinical students, forming and maintaining relationships with local referral sources, and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level clinical courses. The associate director also assists the director in providing administrative oversight and leadership of the clinic, including overseeing the clinic facility, developing and implementing clinic policies and procedures, maintaining adherence to ethical guidelines and legal requirements, and providing back-up consultation in emergencies. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program, be licensed (or license-eligible) as a clinical psychologist in Illinois, and have university teaching experience, as well as a demonstrated appreciation of psychology as a science, and an ability to incorporate a scientific focus and research perspective into clinical practice and any courses taught. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching at the university level; supervising clinical work of graduate students; training students on the administration and interpretation of neuropsychological assessments; and familiarity with and an appreciation of clinical work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
