The Associate Dean reports to the CHBS Dean, serves on the Leadership Council for the College, and represents the Dean and College by serving on other councils and committees. This 12-month position supports 8 academic units within the college. In addition to CHBS academic support, an important part of the Associate Dean's position will be to serve as the Director of IIHHS, providing oversight and leadership of the Institute, where academic programs enjoy integral connections to clinical services and community outreach initiatives that are predominantly grant-funded. IIHHS exemplifies the importance of engagement at JMU, and the Director oversees over two dozen programs embracing a widespread agenda for advancing scholarship, achieving exceptional learning experiences, and connecting our campus with communities. The interface of IIHHS programs with one another, with academic programs, and with community partners calls for agile and creative supervision.

Skills and Experience: PhD or other terminal degree required in an area corresponding to the departments/disciplines represented within the academic units of the College: communication sciences and disorders, kinesiology, health professions, health sciences, nursing, psychology, and social work. Academic qualifications must be appropriate for the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Candidates will have experience in higher education administration, grant-funded program management, team building and leadership, and collaborations that connect community and campus concerns. We seek a skilled communicator, one who is at ease and effective with diverse stakeholders on campus and in the community. Interpersonal skills should include attentive listening, collaborating effectively, promoting individual and group potential, consultative decision-making and flexibility in matching team strategies to changing circumstances. Familiarity with interprofessional education for health and human service professions is strongly desired.

To apply, visit http://joblink.jmu.edu/postings/4381 or go to JobLink.jmu.edu and reference posting number F1219. Applicants will complete an application and submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and a statement of leadership philosophy and approach (as Other Document #1).

Review of applications will begin on December 3, 2018. Applications will continue to be reviewed on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
