The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for a person with expertise in Quantitative Psychology; substantive area of research is open.
Responsibilities for this position include conducting research, teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, advising doctoral students, and providing service to the department and university. Specific responsibilities will also include contributing to the Quantitative Certificate program and statistical consulting. Substantive area of research is open, although preference will be given to applicants that can affiliate with one of the three psychology graduate programs (Cognitive, Counseling, or Social).
Required Education: PhD in Psychology or a closely related field
Preferred Education and Experience:
- A strong publication record in research
- Existing record of or strong potential for excellence in teaching
- Record of external funding or strong promise of ability to secure external funding
- Documented training or expertise in quantitative methods in the form of a PhD in quantitative psychology, MS or minor in statistics or quantitative methods, or a strong track record of publications relevant to quantitative methods in psychology
The Department of Psychology is a friendly and collegial department with a strong reputation for producing high-quality research of basic and applied importance. The department maintains doctoral programs in Cognitive, Counseling, and Social Psychology, with plans to add a Health Psychology program in the future. Faculty also contribute to cross-area initiatives within the department (e.g., Quantitative, Health, and Psychology & Law) and maintain relationships with the faculty from the top-ranked Statistics Department.
