The Department of Psychology at The University of Rhode Island invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in our Behavioral Science track beginning in Fall 2019. Applicants should have a background in cognitive psychology or cognitive science, preferably with special emphasis and experience in the areas of health decision making and/or social-cognitive influences on health behavior and health promotion. The new faculty member will affiliate with the Behavioral Science track, with possible joint affiliation with the URI Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program and the George & Anne Ryan Institute for Neuroscience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students in quantitative and research methods and/or social, cognitive and developmental psychology, as well as to conduct and publish in relevant basic and/or applied research areas, such as social psychology, methodology, behavioral and health assessment, or the development and evaluation of population-based interventions for behavioral and mental health problems and health risks. The Department is located within the recently formed College of Health Sciences, which is part of the University’s Academic Health Collaborative along with the Colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing, and the Institute for Integrated Health and Innovation. The Psychology Department is recognized for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service and for our commitment to diversity. Our Department has 800 undergraduates, 100 graduate students, and 27 faculty, with doctoral tracks in Behavioral Science, and APA-accredited Clinical Psychology, and School Psychology. Carry out a program of research in cognitive psychology; supervise and advise graduate and undergraduate research; teach graduate and undergraduate courses in cognitive psychology and related areas; actively seek and secure extramural funding for research; provide departmental and institutional service.
