Assistant Professor of Psychology (Fixed Term)
Salary and Terms: Full-time, nine month* fixed-term position. Salary placement is commensurate with education and experience.

Position Description: The faculty member will teach a 24-credit course load per year (12 credits each semester); covering foundational areas of Psychology related to personality and abnormal psychology, along with major electives. The person in this position must have the necessary credentials to teach General Psychology and other courses in their area of specialization. Duties also include student advising, contributing to student growth and development, committee assignments, evaluating student performance, engaging in ongoing professional development, service to the University and community, and engagement with the broader Minnesota State College and University system. In addition, the Psychology Program has a strong record of involvement in SMSU concurrent enrollment course offering, and instruction of courses in the College Now Program may be necessary.
- Doctorate in Personality Psychology or related field required.
- Strong commitment to teaching is essential, including extensive teaching experience with undergraduate students.
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent interpersonal/administrative/mentoring skills.
- Demonstrated abilities/competence in instructional technology, including online instruction is preferred.
- Student-centered approach to education and a commitment to helping grow the Psychology program.
- Must have understanding of and appreciation for liberal arts.

*Nine Month Appointments- Along with all other Universities that are part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, standard faculty appointments are for 168 duty days distributed over any nine consecutive months. The nine months need not align with the traditional academic year and may be changed every two years.
