Assistant Professor of Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Rutgers University-Camden Campus invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to start in Fall, 2020. The area is open; successful candidates will be able to teach graduate research methods in their area or advanced graduate statistics. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and masters-level courses in research methods as well as classes focused on the candidate’s area of expertise. As a research active campus, we seek faculty who will make significant contributions to research within their area.

Rutgers-Camden is a diverse, research-intensive campus of 6,000 students located in Camden, New Jersey, directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. Our campus is classified as a “Doctoral University: High Research Activity” (R2) institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Our campus emphasizes civic engagement and was selected by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching for its 2015 Community Engagement classification. We particularly seek faculty who can connect with our diverse student population (over 50% racial/ethnic minorities and over 25% first-generation college students).

The teaching load for junior faculty is 2-2, and salaries and benefits are competitive. For full consideration, applications should be submitted by 10/31/2019. Submit a letter of application, CV, research statement, teaching statement, supporting materials (including up to 3 recent papers), three letters of recommendation, and an optional demographic information form. Additionally, because the department is committed to advancing diversity in all areas of faculty effort, applicants must submit a diversity statement. This statement should specifically address how they have demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity in all areas of faculty effort, including scholarship, instruction, and engagement, and how their background and experiences have prepared them to positively impact Rutgers-Camden’s ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse student community. Applicants should also discuss their activities and/or future goals to promote an inclusive and equitable environment that values diversity. Applications should be submitted electronically at

Rutgers is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. The University and Department seek an active, culturally diverse faculty of the highest caliber. Women and members of historically underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
